One of seven National Primate Research Centers funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Tulane National Primate Center is also one of the largest and the only one equipped with a Regional Biocontainment Laboratory. The center conducted studies for the development of a COVID-19 vaccine while continuously exploring vaccines, treatments and diagnostic tools for infectious diseases such as AIDS, Lyme disease, malaria and tuberculosis.
